KURNIA INSURANS LAUNCHES SECOND MOBILE APPLICATION: KURNIA ONE TOUCH

19 October 2011

Petaling Jaya, - Following the successful launch of Kurnia Mobile for iPhone users in March, Kurnia Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad (KIMB) continues to further enhance its mobile technology for the convenience of its customers through the launch of its second mobile application called Kurnia One Touch.

Being the first general insurer in Malaysia to launch its very own mobile application, Kurnia One Touch aims to reach out to its policyholders to further assist them in the event of any road emergency and to expedite the claims service. Kurnia One Touch is a free mobile application and is available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.

"Spotting an increasing trend in mobile applications and emergence of mobile transactions in other industries, such as banking and air travel, this trend prompted us to enhance our mobile technology to assist our policyholders and reach out to them, especially during emergency vehicle breakdown or in the event of an accident," said Wong Kim Teck, Chief Executive Officer/Director of KIMB.

Jean-Pascal van Overbeke, Maxis' Chief Operating Officer, said, "Maxis has always been at the forefront of innovation in Malaysia, offering mobile services that enrich our customers' lives in ways which matter. We are pleased to partner with Kurnia today on the Kurnia One Touch service, which safeguards customers and adds to their peace of mind. Maxis is committed to growing the mobile solutions landscape, an essential component of an integrated services ecosystem, while providing customers access to the widest variety of advanced smartphones and devices, which run on Maxis' seamless and optimised fixed-mobile converged network."

The new features of the application will enable the following:

  • Locate the user via GPS or location-detection system
  • Store and send user's information, such as name, car plate number and contact details
  • Notify claim by allowing user to take, attach and send photos of damaged vehicle, third-party's details, etc.
  • Locate nearest Kurnia branches and workshops
  • Access emergency numbers listing
  • Read more information about Kurnia.

For first time users, they will need to enter their particulars, such as name, car plate number and contact details. A map will be loaded to show user's current location via GPS from the mobile phone. As for the mobile claim service, users will be able notify Kurnia on their claims by following a simple step-by-step guide in just a few clicks. Submission of photos on damaged vehicles, accident scene and injuries is also possible using the mobile camera function.

KIMB aims to improve and introduce more exciting Kurnia One Touch features in the near future to further benefit our agents, policyholders and the general public. The Company will also review the current features and usage from time to time to provide relevant updates to our mobile phones users.

As a partner to Kurnia for this joint promotion, Maxis is offering Kurnia policyholders a special bundled promotion that includes smartphones, tablets and data plans.
