Sime Darby Lockton Insurance Brokers Launch The First Affordable Insurance Scheme For Women

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Sime Darby Lockton Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd is targeting one million policy holders by the end of 2009 for NUR, its affordable insurance protection scheme for women.

Sime Darby Lockton is the result of the union between Sime Darby Bhd and Lockton, the world's ninth largest risk services group.

Sime Darby Lockton Regional Director,Insurance Division, Che Ibrahim Che Idris said NUR, underwritten by Kurnia Insurance, is the first of its kind to offer comprehensive protection for annual premiums from as low as RM10 per annum.

"We are looking at single mothers, lower income families, Wanita and Puteri UMNO members, amongst others," Che Ibrahim said during the launch today.

The director-general of the Women's Development Department, Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur graced the launch.

NUR, according to Che Ibrahim is one of the few insurance schemes to make provision for snatch thefts, rapes, domestic violence while providing comprehensive personal accident coverage.

It is being offered to all women aged between 18 and 65 years old with plans that also include provisions for accidental death, permanent disablement, children's education allowance, medical expenses and loss of income due to hospitalisation.

Che Ibrahim said NUR was designed after extensive consultations with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.

Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur said that NUR helped to create an awareness towards the safety of women, especially with the prevailing threat of snatch thefts, rape cases and domestic violence.
