Kurnia's "Auto-Shield" to Protect Drivers & Passengers Better
Menara Kurnia, April 8, 2008 - Kurnia Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad ("KIMB")
launched "Auto Shield", a "value-for-money" personal accident insurance plan
that protects drivers and passengers in the car. This innovative product is
an enhancement of Kurnia's "Drivers and Passengers Personal Accident Plan" known
as "DPPA", specially designed to suit the specific needs of our policyholders
today. This insurance plan is made affordable to policyholders from all walks
of life as the premium starts as low as RM0.21 a day.
In view of the rising road accident and to protect the welfare of the people,
Kurnia further revise, enhance and expand the existing "DPPA" to a more comprehensive
and convenient plan for our policyholders, known as "Auto Shield". Both products
were developed with a similar objective to protect drivers and passengers for
private or commercially owned vehicles. The enhancement of customers' experience
through products and services innovation is part of the initiatives undertaken
in our on-going transformation journey (TOP programme), launched by our Group
Executive Chairman, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Datuk Kua Sian Kooi in July last
year.
"Auto Shield" is specifically designed to provide wider range of benefits
for policyholders in response to their ever-rising needs. It covers up to RM80,000
upon death or Permanent Disablement; RM2,000 for medical expenses including
corrective dental and ambulance cost; payment for hospital cash of RM50 a day
for up to 30 days should the insured person admitted to hospital as well as
RM1,000 for bereavement allowance. The premium starts from as low as RM0.21
a day and is definitely affordable for everyone, so that no one should leave
anything to chance for the loved ones.
Besides that, "Auto Shield" plan is flexible as it offers additional benefits
should policyholders require extra protection at a very affordable price. For
instance, with RM68 a year or RM0.18 a day, policyholders will get to enjoy
the benefit of "Daily inconvenience allowance" that pays RM50 a day up to a
maximum of 10 days when policyholder's car is under repair. It also pays up
to RM200 for emergency accommodation expenses or transportation cost to a hotel
or to policyholder's home, should accident occurs. Other additional benefit
includes reimbursement of betterment cost up to RM500, car spray painting expenses
up to RM1000 and damage to personal effects up to RM300 as well as damage to
child's car seat up to RM350.
One of the distinctive benefits of "Auto Shield" over the conventional Motor
insurance policy is that it enables policyholder to have his vehicle fully
painted even with a small portion of damage to his car. Under the normal motor
policy, claimant is only entitled to have his car painted according to the
portion of damage to his vehicle. Kurnia's "DPPA" is popular among our motor
policyholders. But over the years, we have received many agents' and customers'
feedbacks that we should further enhance DPPA to make it more competitive,
comprehensive and value for our policyholders. It is not a one-size-fit-all,
but everyone will find "Auto Shield" a policy that will suit his or her unique
needs. The event was officiated by our KIMB CEO, Mr.Kong Shu Yin accompanied
by COO Mr.Pan Wei Cheong, Director of Operations Dr.James Tee, general manager
Mr.Gary Singh and general manager Mr.Chow Wey Ming.
