Kurnia Insurans and Sin Chew Daily Launches Anti-Crime Campaign
It is yet another showcase of Kurnia's commitment to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) when once again it joined forces, this time with Sin Chew Daily, to embark on an Anti-Crime Campaign. Launched on Thursday, July 20th, 2006, this campaign was aimed at educating the community especially to the 1.25 million Sin Chew Daily readers on the importance of anti-crime and personal safety awareness, apart from uniting the strength of the community to create a safe and peaceful environment. From Kurnia's point of view, it was the best platform to enhance its corporate image as a caring organisation as well as strengthening its brand amongst the readers and consumers.
Present to officiate the campaign launch was Chairman of Sin Chew Daily, Tan Sri Tiong Hew King, while Kurnia was represented by Executive Director, Dato' Quah Teong Moo and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Kong Shu Yin. In his speech, Mr. Kong said, "In perpetuating our policy as a caring corporate citizen, we have been consistently getting involved in various activities by donating generously to various organizations." "This is intended for one sole purpose, that is to see that all our people, irrespective of their race, color, or creed, can live in a safe and harmonious environment", he added.
Apart from the campaign's national launching, there has also been regional launchings, namely Central, Negeri Sembilan, Southern, East Coast and Northern regions respectively. The regional launchings are aimed at creating a bigger impact on readers nationwide to engage in the campaign.
Not only will the 3-month anti-crime campaign be heavily promoted in Sin Chew Daily newspaper, there are also special supplements as well as booklets, posters and car stickers which will be distributed nationwide. As part of the campaign, there are many events in which Kurnia's representatives are present as partner, such as the launch of the Anti-Crime Car Sticker contest, a dialogue session with the police and residents of Petaling Jaya, an interview session with Mr. Kong which was featured in Sin Chew Jit Poh newspaper, and the launch of the Anti-Crime & Personal Safety Booklet to educate readers about personal safety measures.
The campaign will and has indeed, increased Kurnia's image among the community in Malaysia, as a result of the various articles featured in Sin Chew Daily throughout the campaign. Beginning July 27th, 2006, articles on crime and safety were the highlight of the newspaper, with Kurnia logo and product advertisements featured prominently on the center spread of the newspaper. Articles with the Kurnia and Anti-Crime Campaign logos were also published almost everyday throughout the campaign period, highlighting criminal cases and the public's reactions towards these cases.
Kurnia is also proud to sponsor the car sticker contest, and offered the Perfect 10 Personal Accident and the Householders Plus insurance policies with benefits up to RM 100,000 to 50 lucky members of the public whose cars were spotted with the sticker. About 100,000 car stickers were distributed to Sin Chew readers and the public, and they were definitely highly in demand!
As said by Mr. Kong in his speech during the launch, this campaign is another addition of Kurnia's good deed in its almanac. Hopefully following this campaign there will be greater awareness among members of the society of what they can do to curb crime and build a more harmonious living environment. Well done Kurnia!
