Helping to make a difference
Kurnia Insurans recently took the chance to donate RM20,000 to a noble cause, initiated by Yayasan Wanita Cemerlang to help raise funds for the new Monfort Girls Centre in Shah Alam, an extension of the Monfort Boys Town. Generous members of the public, corporate figures, and organisations were called upon to support a charity dinner that was held to raise funds of RM600,000 to furnish the said centre. Supporting this charity dinner was our very own Million Ringgit Producer (MRP), Ms. Winnie Lim of Solution Risk who is also the Vice-Organising Committee Chairman of the charity dinner.
A press conference was held on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Monfort Boys Town
in Shah Alam to publicize the event before the actual charity dinner on April
7, 2006 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Both events were attended
by Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Dato' Clifford F. Herbert, Chairman of the Board of Governors
of Monfort Boys Town, Y. Bhg. Datin Rosalind Lee, Organising Chairman of the
Charity Dinner and Chairman of Yayasan Wanita Cemerlang, Brother Rajamanikan
Anthony, Director of Monfort Boys Town, the main sponsors and members of the
media. Deputy Finance Minister 1, Dato' Dr. Ng Yen Yen, a founding member of
the foundation was the honored guest of the night, themed "Educate a girl, educate a nation".
Representing Kurnia Insurans was Deputy General Manager, Mdm. Lee Khim Kee. A total of RM7mil was raised to build the girls' centre, which will have a technical training studio workshop, a multipurpose hall and hostel facilities for 250 girls.
