Ramadan Buka Puasa Treat for Orphans
In the light of the upcoming DeepaRaya celebrations, Kurnia Insurans invited orphans from various establishments to a sumptuous buka puasa (breaking of fast) meal, at the courtesy of Kurnia Insurans' gracious Senior Management Committee and KIRC (Kurnia Insurans Recreational Club) at Menara Kurnia's Cafeteria on Wednesday, October 26th, 2005. The 30 children from Kompleks Anak Yatim Darul Kifayah, Rumah Annai Illam and Asrama Penyayang Nur Iman took part in the buka puasa festivities.
The KIRC's Chairman, En. Norizad said Muslims were encouraged to do good deeds, especially during the fasting month of Ramadan. The underprivileged groups are not to be forgotten. "Treating the children to the Ramadan buffet dinner is our way of spreading the spirit of love and joy to those in need," he said.
Representatives from each orphanage received a hamper and a cheque for RM2,000, handed out by Senior General Manager, En. Zainal Sehat, General Manager, Captain Zainuddin and General Manager, Mr. Lim Seng Gee. Each child also received a "Duit Raya" pack and gift each. Group Executive Chairman of Kurnia Asia Berhad, Y.B. Tan Sri S. K. Kua also made a generous personal donation of RM1,000 to each orphanage. While waiting for the azan (call for prayer) to mark the breaking of fast, a ceramah was given by guest speaker, Brigedier General Hj. Jamil Khir Bin Hj. Baharom, the Pengarah Kor Agama Angkatan Tentera Malaysia.
The children of different races, aged between 1 and 13 years old, broke fast with Kurnia's staff and enjoyed an array of mouth-watering dishes from the Ramadan buffet dinner. The dishes included authentic Malay Kampung cuisine, samosa, seafood as well as a variety of desserts and fruits.
On hand to meet the orphans were Deputy General Manager, En. Sallehuddin, Assistant General Manager, En. Ahmad Sanusi and Senior Manager, En. Raja Halim, who helped to hand over donations and gifts from Kurnia staff to the three orphanages. It was indeed a happy occasion for the children as they went home with a big smile on their faces.
