A Treasure Hunt for Charity

The Institute Of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIAM) recently organised a treasure hunt for its members on May 21st - 22nd 2005. President of IIAM, Mr. Wee Hock Kee flagged off the hunt at 8a.m. from the 1-Utama Shopping Mall open-air car park. Every good treasure hunt starts with a map showing the way to the loot. What made it more special was that it involved helping groups that we care about! The participants were required to locate clues on items to be purchased for the needy.

As the gold sponsor for the event, Kurnia was given a special invitation to join the hunt. Taking up this challenge was our Kurnia Team consisting of Task Force Senior Manager, Mr. Tan Ah Bee, our fellow colleagues from the Internal Audit Department, Senior Manager, Mr. Steven Tan, Megat Baderul Hissam and Aidil Fairiz.

A total of 24 cars from various companies took part in this treasure hunt. Head of Internal Audit Department, Mr. Steven Tan, led Kurnia's team to successfully reach the finishing line. It was indeed a challenging race as Kurnia's team was relatively new to "treasure hunting". Participants were taken on an unforgettable experience through Bidor, Kampar, Taiping, and finally to the Bukit Merah Lake Town Resort, Perak. It was an interesting journey filled with networking opportunities in a fun and healthy manner. Although most of the questions and puzzles were tricky, majority of the teams managed to solve them and finish the race with little time to spare before the deadline.

All participants were then treated to a buffet dinner at the resort, where answers to the treasure hunt questions were finally revealed. The 1st prize winner managed to score full marks for the 35 questions and walked away with RM1,000 cash. Although Kurnia's team was not amongst the winners, our team received a consolation prize where Mr. Steven Tan won a free high tea at Concorde Hotel, in the Lucky Draw session.

The participants enjoyed watching video clips, which captured hilarious moments of the participants during the hunt. The highlight of the dinner was when the "treasure" collected by the participants during their hard days work was donated to the Rumah Kebajikan Kanak -Kanak Cacat, Bukit Merah by a IIAM representative. As the dinner ended earlier than expected, participants rushed to the resort's big screen arena to watch the live telecast of the FA Cup Finals between Arsenal & Manchester United.

What a treat after a long day of "hunting"!
