The Star Tsunami Relief Fund
The tragic tsunami disaster that struck last December 26th, 2004 hit a nerve around the Asian region as hundreds of thousands of people were affected from countries such as Indonesia, India, Maldives, Thailand, Sri Lanka Malaysia and even as far as South Africa. Two members of the Kurnia Family in Kedah were also affected when their homes were washed away.
Kurnia Insurans donated RM200,000 to The Star Tsunami Relief Fund and RM100,000 to Tabung Bencana Negeri Kedah on Friday, December 31st, 2004. The two cheques amounting to RM100,000 and RM 200,000 respectively were handed over to Deputy Group Chief Editor II of The Star newspaper, Dato' Wong Chun Wai and Kedah state representative, En. Ammar bin Mahmood by our Executive Director, Dato' Quah Teong Moo and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kong Shu Yin at Menara Star.
