Fun-filled colouring contest in Kajang
Over 600 children from the Kajang area had great fun in a colouring contest held on Sunday morning, 12th September 2004 at Dewan MPKJ, Kajang. There were many excited young faces who waited impatiently for something to happen on that early Sunday morning. The crowd outside the hall grew as time passed, accompanied by many choruses of "Mama, is it starting yet?" It was a day where Kajang town was flooded with a pool of children clad in bright red T-shirts bearing the Kurnia Express logo.
Co-organised by Kurnia Insurans and Rukun Tetangga Sektor Pekan Kajang, the event was held in conjunction with our nation's 47th Merdeka Day. The contest attracted a large pool of children including the special children, ranging from ages 4 - 12 who participated in four different categories. Kurnia Insurans had graciously donated various kinds and goods to ensure the overall success of the event.
It was heart warming to see the children fully equipped with their own tools of the trade such as foldable tables, colouring pencil sets and crayons in anticipation of the contest. As soon as time was up, the coloured pictures produced were gathered for the panels' assessment. Everyone was then entertained with various colourful dances performed by adorable childrean from Wendy Dance Centre. The audience was then entertained by our very own Malaysian Yo-yo Champion who ranks among the top 10 in the world as he captivated the children with his friendly grin and amazing skills.
Apart from winning prizes, the winners were honoured with a certificate in recognition of their creative skills. Our very own Senior General Manager, En. Zainal Sehat, Selangor State Head, En. Sallehuddin and Main Branch Assistant General Manager, Mr. Ann Chong Heng took turns in giving away the prizes.
This event was a success as it attracted over a thousand people from the Kajang neighbourhood. More importantly, the spirit of unity and strong bond amongst all races were achieved with flying colours through this event. This is in harmony with our nation's first challenge of Vision 2020, where all Malaysians are united with a sense of shared destiny and harmony for one Bangsa Malaysia.
Special thanks is extended to our MRP, Mr. Hoo Yoon Hiong from Hoo Secure Risk Management, Ulu Langat Rukun Tetangga and our Kajang Team headed by Mr. Sockanathan for initiating this meaningful project. Kurnia's has truly made its presence felt in everyone's heart as a responsible corporate citizen that is also part of the exclusive Malaysian culture and lifestyle regardless of one's background and differences.
