Blood Donation Campaign 2004
Kurnia employees and management, as well as members of the public took time off their busy schedules last Thursday, 25th March, 2004 to help out the National Blood Bank. Organised by Kurnia Insurans Recreation Club (KIRC), this year's annual blood donation campaign saw a total of 86 packets of blood collected as a seemingly unending stream of donors dropped in during the half-day campaign held at the foyer of Menara Kurnia.
A team of 10 medical personnel from the National Blood Bank, Kuala Lumpur led by Dr. Nur Shafini Che Rahim, supervised the campaign. Many people came in to register themselves as early as 9.45am and the blood bank team was kept on their toes as people waited their turn to help the blood bank replenish stocks.
Some donors were seasoned regulars who had already donated their blood more than three times. Although the first-timers were a little hesitant, they still demonstrated a willingness to do their bit for society. Members of the public from different parts of Petaling Jaya who had heard about the campaign also came forward. Students from nearby The One Academy of Communications Design, did not miss out on this chance to do their bit for the community.
All in all, a total of 134 people participated, of which 114 were Kurnia employees and another 20 from the public. However, only 71 Kurnia staff and 15 members of the public were successful in donating blood. This year's blood donation campaign ended with donors helping themselves to a variety of snacks and drinks. KIRC committee would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our Executive Advisor, Datuk Steven Kua for his approval and support for this blood donation campaign, everyone who has rendered their assistance and most of all, our donors for without which this campaign would not be successful.
